Walk on the silk road
Created for the Garuzzo Foundation, Walk on the Silk Road — paraphrasing the lyrics of a song by Lou Reed — tells a vividly colored story.
Acidic. Adventurous. Unpredictable.
Centuries of discoveries. Of curiosity. Of new and unexpected landscapes.
Stories of different religions. Of spices. Of distant flavors.
Stories heard along the way and retold once back home — transformed into legend.
Geographical maps. Camels. Ships. Pirates. Soldiers. Desolate lands.
Deserts. Fragrant gardens. Cities that suddenly appear.
And sounds. Tastes. Languages. Exchanges.
Franz Cerami tells stories by painting.
Through a dense, luminous form of painting.
Starting from very ancient prints — Chinese, Afghan, Persian, Turkish, Mongolian.
A meticulous research process. A vast trunk opened and explored.
Each image is acquired in high resolution, then manually reworked through digital painting techniques, and finally animated.
All the images come together, assembled and reanimated.
They are accompanied by a soundtrack by Claudio Del Proposto, enhancing every subtle movement, every acceleration, every pause.
Walk on the Silk Road is a dreamlike and astonishing journey.
A place to get lost — and then to find oneself again.
Amid fireworks, ancient Persian friends, caravans crossing the desert, Mongol hunting parties, and green Chinese dragons with blazing red eyes.
The Silk Road was also this:
a vast reservoir of imagination.
A history made of stories.
Take a walk on the Silk Road.
Take a walk on the wild side.
