Migrant Sirens is a project that has as its protagonists migrant women, better called by the artist Migrant Sirens.
This work is born as an installation-event projected by Franz Cerami in the places most dear to him, and develops in two different moments.
In the first place to support this project, it is the Campania region that together with Scabec Spa and the municipality of Pietrelcina allows the projection on the buildings of the city.
The second moment of Migrant Sirens is a collaboration of Cerami with Erfap, the organization of the Foundation UIL Campania, on the theme of female immigration.
The chosen place for the installation is G. Ferraris street, a multicultural place that for years has been waiting for a redevelopment and enhancement.
Migrant Sirens is the tale through digital paintings of a story difficult to narrate.
The Migrating Sirens are women looking for a place to land, like the Parthenopean Siren who came from the East across the sea, until arriving at the place where it will rise then partenope.
The Partenope siren is the founder of a community, unifying distant and diverse cultures.
In migrant Sirens is told the journey of these women, a journey made of hope in search of salvation.
What emerges from the paintings is the strength, courage and joy of these sirens who guard the signs of pain.
Several steps have been taken to create this work.
Each single portrait starts with a green background video that is later discoloured. The images deriving from this first phase are painted with oil and graphite, natural elements recreated then graphically through a slow and stratified work.
These elements give these women wings, crowns and colored filaments.
